O'Grady has the father of Jim O'Grady and Jan O'Grady. Jim O'Grady works as an advisor to financial institutions. The family was raised by her parents at home in Wheaton (Illinois) and she graduated in 1981 from the North High School in Wheaton. The model was featured on several television commercials, before moving from Illinois to Los Angeles. The first time she worked, O'Grady was a Montgomery Ward model, where she also made several commercials.
